i’ve decided to start dating these entries again. it’s nice to be able to look back and know when something happened, as opposed to simply knowing that it did happen.

crap. i kinda forgot that having a car you love requires putting money into it. my plan with the van was always just to drive it until it died. which it did, after a couple of years. but i never cared too much about getting oil changes at three months on the dot, or tune ups, or any of that stuff. and the price range i’m getting for tune ups as i’m calling around is positively astonishing. so far i’ve heard everything from $285 to $79. i think i’ll go with one that’s in the middle.

my life is not too exciting right now, because all i talk about is my new car. after a fun, drunken monday night (largely spent with joel trying to convince me that we met long before i remembered), i had supremely mellow tuesday and wednesday nights. went to bed at 8:00 (!) on tuesday and slept the whole night through; last night garrett and i got pizza and then i wandered for hours between bed (unable to fall asleep) and watching some old war movie with him (unable to pay attention).

my roommate situation is so wonderful right now. much better than before. living with jan and garrett was so fun, but having jan around added an unnecessary element of drama. living with becky was cool, but having a stranger move in with you can be kind of weird. i could never bust into her room at 4:00 in the morning and wake her up to talk the way i can with garrett. living with liz and becca was an absolute nightmare, as was living with liz and her brother. and living with debs was awesome, but having dayna there too made us all uncomfortable. it probably seemed like we were ganging up on her, but it was just that we were alike and she…wasn’t.

although there are some things i could stand to stop doing with my roommates. i just need to remember that during particularly cold, drunken evenings.
